What our students say:
I thoroughly enjoyed my barista course today. It helped to highlight some bad habits I've formed in my coffee-making; I learned some useful techniques as well as the theory and reasoning behind them; and I had so much coffee today that I don't need to sleep until sometime late next week.
I studied my level 1 course as well as Latte Arts over there. And hg did teach me solid knowledge and milk pouring skills that a Barista needs. The environment is pretty nice and tidy, and very advanced machine as well.
Also, teachers are really friendly and helpful.
I would tremendously recommend the "2hr latte art session" for its great value for people who want to sharpen their milk pouring skills.
TJ was my instructor and she was very supportive, encouraging, and attentive. It was great and enjoyable experience training with her. Thanks to TJ im more confident and learned new tricks even i was experienced in the coffee industry. Also, she showed me valuable key points to make perfect milk frothing, and we also tried other creative ways to make latte art.
In a nutshell, im now confident to make beautiful latte art than before, and would definitely be back in the future for more coffee lab sessions for further practicing.
Thank you very much, HGCoffee ^^.
Wrote this review because It taught me the technical knowledge and skills that is required for employment. And scroll to the end for the brief summary.
Completed Barista Level 1 & 2 course bundle and the experience overall exceeded expectations(which were none). Lectures are enthusiastic, knowledegable and critically helpful but expressed ways to improve skills in friendly demeanor.
The bundle builds solid fundementals based on current industry standard equipment (Level 1). Your application of fundementals will be tested by simulating a busy shift (Level 2) but they do teach techniques on how to manage it as well as offer a demo and explaination on latte art techniques.
Even if you done barista training before(like me) doing the level 1 course does refresh you on proper techniques and correct mistakes that self-taught or volunteering coffee makers make. Best to take it if you don't feel confident for your basic coffe e
To ensure you get the most value out of the course ask questions because the class atmosphere allows it.
My criticism of the course being unable to practise the very basic latte art though I was in a group of 7 thus I can understand and for my employment needs it isn't necessarily required.
The training bundle teaches you industry standard coffee making skills with modern equipment and conditions you to apply them in a fast-paced setting that is expected in a busy workplace. My criticism is being unable practise the very basic latte art but will accept it due to class size at the time.
Would Recommend for employment preparation? Yes
$250 for a bartending for an hour - Ridiculous (course claims to be 3hrs but 90% of the time is spent sitting around watching!
Such a waste of time, this won’t help you get a trial shift at a bar nor will it help you on that trial shift! Plus when I called to enquirer the staff who I spoke to on the phone were extremely rude! Also the lady who was trial seemed very unprepared as she didn’t know the professional terms for some items. To sum up; completely disappointed and feeling ripped off!!!
I enjoyed the course and would recommend it. Luke and April were very instructive and attentive. It was a lot of fun and I left feeling confident and now want to take the next step with level two.
Awesome course!! All of the trainers - Isaac, April, Luke & TJ made everything so relaxed and easy and FUN!! I would definitely recommend this course for anyone. Whether you’re looking at getting into the industry or wanting to better your skills.
Went to learn latte art today. Giving me feedbacks each time I pour and explaining how I should be doing with reasons, I felt getting better each time. Can’t wait to go back to my shop and keep practicing. Thank you so much.
Attended level 1 today and Luke was amazing I can't speak highly enough of this young talented man a credit to the school
An amazing course learnt so much from this, it was a fun safe environment with skilled and considerate teachers. Will be coming back to do more courses with this company highly recommended them!!
The guys here are awesome! They really listen to what you need help with and give you the assistance you need. I did the barista level 1 course and also the latte art course and learnt so much. I went there with barely any coffee knowledge and left with great foaming skills and being able to do some latte art! Everyone is so enthusiastic which makes you just as excited as them to learn and do your best. Cheers guys!
Learning with HG was a great experience. Mathew and Isaac both have great in-depth knowledge of the subject and shared as much as they possibly could within the time-frame. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants to understand coffee and look forward to the next session. Thanks guys.

Matthew is an absolute genius when it comes to coffee! Thank you for your extremely wise words and understanding. I'm an old school 90's taught barista but Matthew showed me the way!! Thank you
Peter, Luke, and Isaac are the real coffee aficionados! Coffee is their passion and it resonates to all the students. I learned a lot from Luke in my Level 1 & 2 training sessions. He's such a great trainer! Isaac gave me a demo of manual brewing using brewover method. And I learned a few tips of analyzing the flavour and aroma! And of course, Peter. He's the man! Ask him everything about coffee, he will give you a very valuable insight. I learned a lot about the industry from him! I highly recommend HG Coffee School to everyone.
